Matthew Schlatter is a composer, performer, and educator living and working in Brooklyn. He spent 2017 recording albums for two projects: world-influenced indie rock group, io & Titan, and folk duo, Schlatter & Ferris. Expect their release and accompanying tours in 2018.  Matthew was also recently selected as a composer-in-residence at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild.  Matthew runs a monthly song series in Brooklyn called Evening Songs, in which a safe space is created for musicians and non-musicians alike to sing songs in a joyful, intimate, community setting. Past projects include the new music ensemble Marigold Opera, an eclectic mix between a chamber group and rock band that he led with composer Nathan Cooke and also the indie rock outfit Instrument Thieves, with Nathan Terry, Joan Chew and Philip Panos.

io & Titan

io & Titan is the latest project of composer and performer Matthew Schlatter. Using the simple instrumentation of drums, bass, guitars, and keys, io & Titan creates a dense layer of world-inspired rhythms - building a a sound that is a unique take on indie rock. io & Titan recorded their debut E.P. in 2017 with producer Nathan Terry. Expect release in 2018.

Marigold Opera

Matthew is a teacher of both guitar and piano with over 10 years of experience.  He currently teaches over 30 students in his private teaching studio in Kensington, Brooklyn, and also as a member of the faculty of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.  His teaching philosophy is simple - share his love of music with his students and engage them by encouraging them to find their own paths in learning music.  If you'd like to find out more about music lessons visit his contact page.
